Excel PEX ALPex is a durable, reliable tubing that will not corrode or rust. The flexibility of Excel PEX ALPex tubing results in easy rollouts. The stay-in-place rigid feature of the tubing makes it ideal for: Radiant Floor heating systems Hot and Cold Water Systems Manifold supply piping Baseboard supply and return Unit heater connections Solar systems Chiller and fan coil systems Compressed Air networks If you want to know a little more about PEX ALPex: The PEX layers protect against corrosion and creates a shield so the tubing can be embedded in concrete. The aluminum layer offers 100% oxygen diffusion and provides stiffness to hold the tubing in the desired shape. Together, the layers make up a flexible tubing that stays in place, won't discolor and has a very low thermal expansion rate (similar to copper and teel). On the other hand, PEX pipe is plastic and thus has a much higher thermal expansion coefficient that can result in heat stress cracking of cement and asphalt floors due to expansion of the embedded pipe.
